Data Resources
Locating the data required for a comparative research project can often be the most difficult task.  To aid researchers in finding the correct data, NESSIE has attempted to identify the major social science comparative datasets which are accessible, to give a short overview of their coverage and to point potential users to the access point. To be included, datasets must include data on at least three European Community member states.  Please also see the section on Data Sources. Please also note that some comparative datasets are available from several different sources; further, some are available from different sources but in different formats. We have tried to incorporate this information into our entries.  In some cases, all countries in Europe collect comparable micro data but not all countries make these files available for secondary research. In addition, different sources may impose different access conditions to the data. In many cases, access is open upon payment of a fee or subscription. In others, there is no charge for the comparative data but a small service charge is levied.
