Aside from those surveys, the following sites were located:

“This site is available from the Research Centre for Future Communications at Leeds University. The Centre was set up to serve as a focus for research into changing patterns of communications. Its major current project is a large-scale study of the impact of technological change and its social implications, futura.com2. The aim of the centre is to encourage collaborative research into social/technological questions, and as part of this, psychologists, sociologists, political scientists and social geographers contribute to projects. In addition the Centre aims to act as a bridge between academic based research and industry-based research, and to serve as a forum for issues related to policy issues in the realm of social and political issues arising out of new forms of communications. Data are available to consortium members on the following:
- patterns of social interactions
- patterns of time use
- attitudes towards social, political and technological change
- environmentalism and green issues
- changing attitudes and practices at work
- regulation and personal freedom
- trust and risk-taking
- social and geographical mobility
- opinions about fashion and style
- beliefs in scientific and medical progress
- attitudes to GM foods and other health related issues
- beliefs in paranormal phenomena
- the death of Princess Diana
It is not evident that the data have any comparative European elements.
The site also has links from http://www.leeds.ac.uk/ics/links.htm to a number of related sites (not all the links work at the time of writing) including: the internet movie database, guide to data about the USA on the internet, The Guardian; the Financial Times (both with archives);sites providing official and government information (mostly UK but includes the White House and the Commonwealth);broadcasting corporation sites (mostly UK); telecommunications sites.
University of Aberystwyth site, currently under construction. Includes suggested reading material for media and communications studies and includes links to sites similar to those listed above.
MEDIA-WATCH is for information & discussion on the pleasures & politics of the media in Britain. Approaching the media as a major cultural & ideological force, & media audiences as active & diverse consumers, this list provides a critical forum for media teachers and researchers. UK based, not obviously comparative though users of the list may well be from different nations.
It is likely that the CMCR has in its long history carried out research resulting in data, but their web site is under development and a query directed at James Halloran there has as yet yielded no results.
